RISK
RISCO Festival had its first edition in 2018, when it occupied 14 spaces in the city with artists from 9 countries in a program that dealt with [affective networks] as a curatorial axis, promoting a series of performances, shows, concerts and workshops throughout the city and offered free of charge.
In 2019, with the ecosystem of the cultural sector completely changed and artistic production breathing through apparatus in an even more complex and polarized political environment, RISCO returned with the Em Casa concept, bringing activities in its own independent space in Bom Retiro (a Casa Risco / Quimera Atelier) and including extensions (shows and workshops) at the Centro Cultural da Diversidade.
In an environment threatened by different forms of censorship, dismantling and loss of rights, RISCO renewed its propositions within the concept of artistic risk and subjectivities at risk, proposing a program that included concerts, performances, parties, works in process, workshops and conversations, questioning its own model as a festival and the collaborative and self-management practices that are necessary in the current context.
RISCO is artistically directed by Natalia Mallo and Gabi Gonçalves, curated by Natalia Mallo and is a realization of Tracked Body.
In its two editions, it had the support of the French Embassy - Institut Français, Municipal Department of Culture, Outburst Americas/British Council, Canadian Embassy and Atelier Chimera.
