THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO FAST, WHOM OF HEAVEN - Jo Clifford  (Scotland  )

Jesus-Queen-of-Heaven_@Aly-Wight.jpg

Ten years after her debut in Scotland, actress and playwright Jo Clifford presents her monologue for the first time in São Paulo. In this revolutionary queer ritual, bread is shared, wine is drunk and Jesus (lived by the artist) is recreated as a transsexual. The play, which caused a stir among Christians right after its premiere, in a church in Glasgow, was created by the British playwright as a way to deal with her own faith and her transsexuality. For this, it takes as its base one of the pillars of the Christian discourse: acceptance. It is, therefore, a reflection device on the relationship between art and society, and on the power of trans dramaturgies in the confrontation with structural mechanisms of exclusion.
