Casa Farofa is more than just a rehearsal space — it’s a gathering point for those who believe in the power of the collective. A place where theater, dance, and the performing arts blend into a rich stew of exchanges, processes, and affections. Here, each project is a different ingredient that helps shape this ever-evolving recipe of creation. Our Casa Farofa becomes a space of shared care and upkeep, where every body that inhabits it helps build the familiar environment it brings to life.
A bridge between production and creation. Between producers and artists.

What's the proposal?
It’s all based on trust and collaboration. Through a collaborative and affective circular economy, each artist or group contributes what they can — and we know that can change. Some bring money, others bring drive, and that’s how the wheel keeps turning. Those with funding, projects, or grants help support those who are just starting out or going through tough times. The result? A space where everyone fits and can grow.
We calculate the monthly costs (rent, electricity, cleaning, internet, and everything else), divide by the number of available hours, and arrive at three suggested hourly contribution tiers:
Tier A: R$ 60.00 – the ideal
Tier B: R$ 50.00 – the possible
Tier C: R$ 40.00 – the minimum
Space Use Policies
ENJOY THE ROOM — but take care! The floors in the rooms are wooden and have been finished with a coat of paint. So, if you need to use any kind of tape or make any intervention in the room, please let us know in advance so we can figure out how to avoid damaging the floor or making the space unusable for the next group.
Each room has a speaker and a power system with both 110V and 220V outlets. If you're unsure about anything, just ask the producer on duty at Casa — we’re here to help with whatever you need.
USED IT? CLEAN IT! That golden rule applies here and should be a basic principle. We have a little kitchen space with everything you need to make coffee, tea, and get filtered water. There’s usually a fresh pot of coffee available, but if not, feel free to heat up some water and make it your way. In the kitchen you'll find a sink, drying rack, cupboards with mugs, cups, cleaning supplies, etc.
SMOKING IS ALLOWED — but only in the outdoor areas: the balcony and the upper floor. You’ll notice that there are standing ashtrays placed in these spaces exactly for this purpose. So there’s no reason to throw cigarette butts on the ground, flick them into the street, or leave them on ledges or in plant pots. Please be mindful of this.
CANCELLATIONS — Last-minute cancellations will still be charged, as they affect other groups that could have used the space. We ask everyone to be considerate so we can handle unexpected situations in the best way possible.
These are just a few initial guidelines. We're still settling into the space and figuring things out together with you all.
Feel free to make suggestions or ask any questions!
